Time for a quick review.
This is for all you non-mac users out there! When I had a mac I used the 'Grab' Program to Grab Capture Selection (a.k.a command, shift, 4) to take screen shots of my work often, now I'm back to using my pc I had been using print screen and editing it to crop out the selection I wanted and save it as a .jpg... as you can imagine this takes a lot longer. SnapIt is the solution to this problem. It gives you the option to use the functions of Grab on a mac on a pc!
What it is:

It's easy to use screen capture software which allows you to capture anything on the screen including windows, menus, full screen, rectangular regions, web pages and moving images. It
How it works: After you download and install the program SnapIt puts an icon on your desktop and toolbar
and all you have to do is open the program, hit print screen (or the hotkey you select) for the crosshairs to appear
select the area you wish you capture and select how you wish to save it by right clicking on the icon in your toolbar.
Quick, easy- no cropping in paint/photoshop. You have the option to change the hotkey- so instead of print screen you can make it F10-12
The quality isn't great but you can increase it by choosing .tiff instead of .jpeg- to be honest it's perfectly fine for anything you want to do on screen but if you want to print it you might notice it. You can tell it isn't as crisp as the desktop is but not by much. It's perfectly fine for blogging/documenting work, which is what I would use it for.
Other bonuses are there's an e-manual if you get stuck with anything and it has an autosave to folder function that allows you to select a file name prefix (aka food) and then it will autosave them all for you (food1, food2 etc).
Drawbacks:
The program uses a moderate amount of system resources- it doesn't affect my pc- we just checked in task manager to see but if you're running an old machine then you may notice it running slower. Quality- as discussed above. The other possible drawback is cost. $18 isn't much in my eyes but my other half thinks it's overpriced and would prefer do edit the print screen manually.
Positives:
As I've mentioned it's super easy to use and I would totally pay for the benefits- it saves me time and that, as we all know is a precious commodity. I like that you can save as different formats and that anyone can get a free 2 week trial to see if you like it!
Conclusion:
All in all for me- this program is super useful. If you use a pc and use print screen then this is for you. If you're a blogger that wants to document things or a student who needs to document your work, make resources, tutorials or documentation for teaching or anyone who needs to keep a record of their progress. If not or would prefer to edit them manually- no worries! but when you have to option of a free trial why not test it out for yourself?
